Very good opportunity to learn by doing. Primarily, we learned hands on skills by first learning “why” and then “how” to stretch or strengthen in multiple planes. We were always dressed for exercise as we practiced techniques in multiple planes of motion.
We learned skills from the pelvis to the foot. Hand placements were essential to facilitate specific contractions and positioning ourselves correctly prevented our own injury -
I thought learning and understanding the movements of the lower extremity was going to be a brief review. Biomechanics of the entire lower extremity taught me how the muscles worked to perform the actions of our daily activities. This led to how and why we need to stretch and strengthen more specifically. I never realized how important it is to position your self to prevent an injury while giving exercise to somebody else.
